Council to Re-tender for Aquatic Centres Management

Together with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, we have made the joint difficult decision to terminate the current agreement in place for the management of the Port Macquarie, Laurieton, Wauchope and Kendall aquatic facilities.

The unprecedented incidents of fires, floods and of Covid-19 has significantly impacted the operation of the facilities since we were awarded the management of the facilities in 2019.

But the unforeseen economic impacts of COVID-19, and the ramifications that this has had particularly on the leisure and aquatic industry, has today resulted in us mutually agreeing to part ways from the current agreement.

Council will re-advertise for tenders prior to the end of the year, with a view to awarding a new contract in March 2022.

In the meantime, we are committed to the continuation of quality programs and services for you, our customers.

We will continue to manage the operation of Council’s leisure centres at Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Laurieton and Kendall over summer to minimise any disruption to member services or the delivery of pool programming, even if a transition of management is forthcoming.

We are equally committed to our valued local team to ensure the smooth transition of employment if one is required. While we appreciate this is not an ideal situation, we remain dedicated to all programs and community groups.
