We know in the past Port Macquarie Swimming Pool was closed in July however with the popularity of lap swimming in recent weeks we are excited to announce that the pool will remain open through July this year!
Many of you have braved the cooler weather for some laps in the pool so we know you’ll be excited to keep up the much needed exercise!
Council, in partnership with BlueFit, are thrilled to be able to confirm that the Port Macquarie Pool will remain open this year for the month of July.
“It has been really encouraging to see swimmers returning since the pool re-opened in mid-May, and whilst there have been strict conditions in place, more than 4,000 bookings have been made.”
“Continuing to provide access to the pool is important in enhancing the health and wellbeing of our community, and we are pleased to be able to provide ongoing access during July and the following months,” explained Group Manager, Liam Bulley.
The recent forced 8 week closure of the pool as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on many users of this facility including both recreational lap swimmers and training squads.
We recognise the importance of access to recreational activities within our LGA to enhance the health and wellbeing of our community members, particularly after the difficult period we have continued to navigate as a result of COVID-19.
The pool will continue to operate under current NSW Government guidelines with currently only lap swimming taking place at the facility;
Patrons will need to continue to pre-book for their visit to the pool via our website here.
